Ajay and Prem asked Ebi to play the videos that they have made and the others were eager to watch. Both Ajay and Prem made a very good video and they were appreciated by their tutor.

Ebi was very happy to see what these amazing kids have accomplished. He felt happy to see the outcome of his hard work. These videos prove that kids at push home have tremendous talents, with little hands on guidance they will shine in beautiful colours.

Video projects are among the few projects that can engage a child. After two months of classes on ‘video making’, Ebi, their tutor wished to give the young minds a challenging task but at the same time a fun one. What could be more exciting for a child than to see his or her work on display?

So Ebi announced to his class, that every week, one of them should make a video and show it to him. When he asked who would volunteer the first week, all the hands in the class shot up. Finally it was decided that Ganesh would do the first video. The decision was not easy to make, as Ebi had a tough time convincing the other children why Ganesh is the one selected.

When Ebi entered the class this Saturday, Ganesh was there brimming with happiness and eagerly awaiting for him. Everybody including Ebi cudn’t wait to watch the video. As Ebi played the video for the class there was complete silence in the room.. As soon as the video ended, a loud cheer broke out in the room for Ganesh. Ganesh was all smiles seeing his work appreciated and applauded. Ebi felt it very rewarding, seeing the outcome of his hard work. At the end of the class Bhavani volunteered to make the next Video. So more to watch out for next week!!!!!!!!

This week they were given elaborate lecture on Ms Word. The children were practically taught how to create a word file, how to set the page ready for typing, align the typed text, format the document and save the document. Two boys were very eager to give a try by themselves, so they created a word file and typed some text and were happy seeing the output.

After the class got over, the children had a very nice time with their tutor; playing, giggling, sharing jokes, etc. Both the children and the tutor enjoyed this week’s class.

This week Ebi taught them the basics of Microsoft word – it was an introductory lesson. In the following weeks the children will learn ‘How to start word, Set screen for good working conditions, Understand the parts of the screen, Create a document, Format the document, Save the document and Print the document.

As usual the children enjoyed their first class of learning the basics of Ms Word. According to their tutor the children were very happy and they showed the same enthusiasm that they had while learning video making. See you in the next blog!

Soon after their tutor arrived, the four boys sat in front of the pc and started to perform the test one after the other. They had their written notes in hand and with little guidance from their tutor they made videos out of their own creativity. The children enjoyed doing the videos on their own.

And finally, the boys (who performed the test) and their peers were delighted to see the handiwork. They received heartfelt appreciation from their tutor for their interest, participation and of course for the good work. The class concluded after the announcement of test for the girls the following week.

This weekend computer class started with the usual enthusiasm. To test what the children have learnt so far, their tutor had announced a practical test on the subject “video editing.”

A boy named Ganesh, was very much excited to attend the test. He is one among the 8 children who learn video editing. Having the written notes as guidelines he was asked to do make a video and edit it. According to Ebi, Ganesh performed the test well – the video had a professional touch. His performance revealed the hidden skills and his interest to learn new things. The children were so happy to see the video made by Ganesh.

After the test, the children were taught more on video editing. The 7 children who did not perform the test were encouraged by their tutor who gave them the confidence to attend the test the following week. Due to power cut the tutor was unable to continue to teach the kids and thus the class came to an end.

This Saturday, the kids at PUSH home were eagerly waiting for their tutor, as they were going to learn “HOW TO MAKE A VIDEO”. This was some thing totally new for them, so they expressed their excitement with broad big smiles and cheerful welcome to their teacher.

Ebi (their new tutor) had planned to take separate classes for boys and girls, as he could easily attend to every individual child in a more personal way. So this week, few girls (from 6^th grade onwards) were picked. The class started with the introduction on “how to make a video”.

In general, children in and around 4^th grade gain much of their learning from what they read, so having this in mind, Ebi asked each of them to take notes as he taught them.  As he dictated the step-by-step procedures involved in ‘video making’, the girls penned them in a notebook.  Then taking few sample images he practically taught them video making. Meanwhile, boys of the same age group were asked to take notes as well.  So they will find it easy to learn when they are taught the following week.

As the class was going on, the tiny tots were having a nice time playing with the toys contributed by our Swedish friends.  Each one was playing games of their own interest. And few of them were enjoying a very good nap.

Finally the class came to an end, after the girls were informed of a test the following week. Their tutor has asked them to be ready with some nice pictures and using them they will have to do a video using their creativity.

The Photoshop classes taken by their old tutor came to an end after the kids have learnt the basics in Photoshop. From last Saturday, the kids were exposed to new syllabus.  Few children (from grade 5-8) were picked and were taught to do image editing. They were even given the introduction about video editing. Today’s class was an introductory class for their new tutor to get acquainted with them.   

Their new tutor was surprised to see the kids pick up the lessons so fast. He agrees that this makes it really fun to teach. It is interesting to know how much better kids interact with technologies that are new to them.  

From next week, this blog will be updated with the new experiences of these kids. In the near future we are also planning to conduct competitions like photography, picture editing etc
